theBellyPan.com had the chance to ask Scott Russell if there was something he finds himself consistenly suggesting to riders when they corner him for a tip. He chuckled at the way we asked the question and basically told us to take a deep breath and relax - literally.
Mr. Russell explained that taking a deep breath and fully exhaling consistently as you enter each turn can help the rider remain relaxed. Many sports use breathing techniques to improve performance; remaining relaxed and breathing normally can help maintain focus while reducing fatigue.
One of the keys to his record five Daytona 200 wins was exhaling deeply as he entered each turn, helping him remain relaxed and focused for the races.
We appreciate Mr. Russell for taking the time to offer that tip for our readers and look forward to hearing and seeing more of him since he is a regular member of U.S. broadcasts of motorcycle road races throughout the season.
